The New Jalpaiguri station under Katihar Division of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has been ranked 10th in the national ranking of clean stations. The ranking was part of the "Preliminary Report on Assessment of Cleanliness Standards at Major Railway Stations" which was released at Rail Bhawan, New Delhi yesterday by Minister of Railways Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu. Indian Railways is the third largest rail network in the world with 66,000 route kilometer stretch covering more than 8000 stations. Consequent to the launch of 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan' on October 2, 2014 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Indian Railways had also launched 'Swachh Rail Swachh Bharat Abhiyan' to achieve the vision of 'Clean India'. Purely based on the passenger feedback on the cleanliness of stations and the analysis there-of, 407 major stations have been given rankings in the Preliminary Report submitted by a survey agency through IRCTC to Ministry of Railways for scrutiny and further action. Among the A1 stations in India, New Jalpaiguri station of NFR was ranked 10th by passengers while Surat, Rajkot and Bilaspur received the 1st, 2nd and 3rd places. UNI SG KK PY BD2020
