Ruling BJP and principal opposition Congress today released their respective list of candidates for ten Mayoral posts as Chhattisgarh gears up for the two-phase civic body elections slated to be held on December 29 and 31.

While BJP nominated its spokesperson Sachidanand Upasane for the prestigious mayoral post in Raipur Municipal Corporation, Congress fielded two-time councillor Pramod Dubey in place of its sitting mayor Kiranmayee Nayak.

However, the Congress is yet to announce its candidate for the mayoral seat of Bilaspur Municipal Corporation following clashes between the supporters of former chief minister Ajit Jogi and state party President Bhupesh Baghel at Congress Bhavan here last night over selection of candidates.

The Congress also suffered a set back in the OBC-reserved Jagdalpur after the district authority today cancelled party candidate Malkit Singh Gendu's OBC certificate following a complaint.

The BJP candidates include Sachidanand Upasane (Raipur), Kishore Rai (Bilaspur), Harikanta Dubey (Korba), Madhusudan Yadav (Rajnandgaon), Mahavir Chouhan (Raigarh), Manjusha Bhagat (Ambikapur), Archana Choubey (Dhamtari), Chandrika Chandrakar (Durg), Yogendra Kaushik (Jagdalpur) and Sanjay Singh (Chirmiri).

The Congress list includes Pramod Dubey (Raipur), Renu Agrawal (Korba), Vijay Pandey (Rajnandgaon), Ajay Tirki (Ambikapur), Sarita Doshi (Dhamtari), Nilu Thakur (Durg), Malkit Singh Gendu (Jagdalpur) and Mohammad Iman (Chirmiri). UNI SS BDG SB VN2115 NNNN
