Hooda launches ''Aaj Samaj'' in Chandigarh

Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today exhorted journalists to opt for investigative journalism to ascertain the truth.

''Besides, they should highlight the problem of masses so that the credibility of newspapers could be maintained,'' Mr Hooda said after launching the Chandigarh edition of 'Aaj Samaj' of Good Morning Media Group here today.

Mr Hooda maintained that journalism had a long illustrious history as it had played a pivotal role during the Freedom Struggle of India and even today, in the age of globalisation, newspapers had carved out a special niche in the society. The Chief Minister gave a clarion call to the media persons to highlight the problems, especially of rural areas, and also to highlight the welfare schemes of the Government so that common people could get the benefit of these schemes.

Mr Hooda said that during last two years, Aaj Samaj newspaper had made progress and hope that a qualitative change would also be brought in the newspaper to fulfill the aspirations of the people.

While welcoming the Chief Minister, Managing Director of Good Morning Media Group, Mr Kartik Sharma said that this newspaper had a new ideology and there was no dearth of space for new ideas in the newspaper. Editor-in-Chief, Mr Ravin Thukral and Chief Executive Officer, Mr Rakesh Sharma also spoke on the occasion.
