Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his exemplary support in driving Assam's rapid growth.
Sonowal attributed the success of the Advantage Assam 2.0 summit to PM Modi's leadership, which has attracted investors from both within India and abroad. Speaking to the reporters, Sarbananda Sonowal said, "It is because of the PM's leadership that not only the people from the country but also from abroad are willing to invest in Assam. The way he supported the speedy growth of Assam is exemplary." The Advantage Assam 2.0 summit was held between February 25 and 26, during which time investors submitted investment proposals totalling over Rs 4.50 lakh crore, as Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma informed on Wednesday. Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, CM Himanta stated that the government has been successful in achieving investment proposals and a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) worth Rs 4.50 lakh crore. He added that the investment proposals include the government of India's infrastructural announcements. The Assam CM said that the proposals have been scrutinised to sign only those MoUs that would be convertible in the next three to four years. "We have achieved investment proposals and MoUs over Rs 4.50 lakh crore, including the infrastructural announcement from the government of India. Tomorrow, we will have the full list. We have done very close scrutiny so that we can sign only those MoUs that are convertible within the next 3-4 years. We are focusing on quality over quantity," Sarma told reporters on Wednesday. Furthermore, CM Himanta said that attracting such a huge amount of investment was a 'defining moment' for the state and would make Assam a contributory state to the Indian landscape. "It is a defining moment for the state of Assam. From here onwards, Assam will have a different kind of journey, which will make Assam a contributory state in the landscape of India," he said. (ANI)
