The government English medium school started this academic year needs early remedies to survive as claimed the local people in Chawmanu area in the bordering Longthorai valley sub-division in the northern Tripura district of Dhalai here.

This academic year the earlier Left Front government has started an english medium school in Chawmanu area without the basic infrastructure and human resource. Hence the students who have taken admission in class I has got into suffering a lot as the local people have alleged. One of the resident of Chawmanu identified as Pradip Barua has remarked, "The earlier government has set it up as an election propaganda. In our locality, when people are really struggling to manage the day to day meals then an English medium school remains just a mockery". Another retired teacher of the locality identified as Bikash Chakma has informed, "The setting up of an English medium school is a timely move. But the earlier government in their hurry has set it up without proper infrastructure and without appointing required teaching staffs. Hence the students as well as their guardians are now in a dilemma as whether to keep their kids in the school or to shift to other Bengali medium school. The present government must look into it seriously". It has revealed that, having the name of English medium all the teachers are doing classes using Bengali as they all have been hailed from Bengali medium background. Now, local peopel have demanded that, the government either appoint efficient teaching staffs and provide needed infrastructure or shut the school up.
