In an initiative to bring forth the talents and skills of the northeastern designers in the forefront in fashion industry, Delhi Fashion Club (DFC) and Fashion, Textiles and Youth Promotion Association have recently announced the Delhi Design Runway at the Announcement Party in New Delhi.
The runway aims to create a platform to promote and inspire young designers and brands to adopt the Indian khadi , Northeast handlooms and eco-friendly fabrics which is needed for healthy and better future.
Delhi Design Runway will be a fashion show with a cause which talks about human development, national and northeast cultural promotion through fashion, fabrics and handlooms.
The event is scheduled to be held in the month of April in Delhi and is inviting both fashion students and young designers for a design contest under three categories - Pure Khadi Show, Design Innovation in Khadi and Handlooms and Sustainable Fashion.
"This is not just an event but a series of event which is going to bring youth, fashion intellectuals, buyers, handloom authorities, artists, designers and industry experts together on one platform for a better future. We are going to involve more than five fashion and art colleges every season and also keeping in view to promote North Eastern Textiles and Youth, for which Delhi Fashion club have been appreciated by government of India as well. We are giving special attention to north east designers both formally trained and self-made designers fully sponsored," said Harshit Dhingaun, Chairman of Delhi Fashion Club.
Apart from the design contest, the event will also discuss the hurdles, opportunities and growth for khadi and handlooms and finding ways to make it more youth friendly by promoting the indigenous fabrics.
Other aspects will talk upon on export of Khadi and its emerging as a big change maker for Indian textile industry.
Along with fashion, the event will also have a taste of art where live paintings and art show will also be display during the show.
The event is associated with NGO Cosmopolitan Plus and North East Promotion is being supported by Elizar Trust and Adaan Foundation. (ANI)
