Over one million people from across the globe are expected to participate in 'Somayagam,' a Vedic ritual aimed at ushering in global wellness amid increasing unrest and varied kinds of fundamentalism, beginning here on February 13.
Talking to reporters here Acharya M R Rajesh of the Kasyapa Vedic Research Foundation (KVRF), organising the week-long event at Karaparamba in Kozhikode district of Kerala, said this would an attempt to experiment and learn about the pre-historic ritual. 'We are not claiming that rain would lash immediately after or as an impact of the week-long ritual,' perhaps first time in north Malabar, which could be attended by anyone irrespective of his caste and religion. Gender is also not a bar to attend, he said. He said it will hbe typically an excellent theatre that symbolises evolution of the universe and its living being even while incorporating features that stand distinct from its previous editions of Somayagam in ancient, middle and modern history.
