Two motorcyclists were killed after a truck laden with highly corrosive and inflammable acid hit their vehicle on Ramghat road of this Uttar Pradesh district, police said today.

The truck laden with hydrochloric acid was going towards Atrauli when it hit the motorcycle near Gandhi eye hospital and later overturned and exploded, late last night.

One motorcycle-borne person Kamal Rana died on the spot, while his associate Ramu succumbed later in hospital. The driver and cleaner of the truck managed to run away.

Three fire-fighters also fainted, when they were trying to put off the flames erupting from the highly corrosive acid. The blaze could only be brought under control after four fire-tenders were pressed into service.

Senior officials reached the spot to control the situation. UNI XC-JAS SY RK1500 NNNN
