After bagging other prestigious awards in various forums now noted filmmaker of A & N Islands, Mr. Naresh Chander Lal has been selected for Maja Koene award for his inspirational feature film Gandhi the Mahatma.
According to Lal, the selection for the award has been made by the Centre for Experiencing Socio Culture Interaction (CESCI) an International Organisation based in Switzerland and in India.
Naresh Chander Lal will be honoured with the Maja Koene Award in the month of November 2013 at the Madurai.
This award is not only mine, it is for the people of my native place i.e Andaman & Nicobar Islands as well as to the unique culture of Andaman & Nicobar Islands which has noticed by the world through my film Gandhi the Mahatma. I am proud to be the Son of the Soil, Naresh Chander Lal told UNI today.
The film maker has already been awarded with Bharat Jyoti Award by Indian International Friendship Society and has also been awarded with Andaman's most prestigious honour 'Lt. Governor's Commendation Certificate.'
Gandhi the Mahatma is a film which is based on an inspirational story about Andaman. Although Mahatma Gandhi never visited Andaman but write and director of the Feature Film Gandhi the Mahatma has shown Gandhi visiting Andaman and Nicobar Islands after his death on his Birth Anniversary and interacting with four Andaman Students.
Gandhi the Mahatma is also the first feature film of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, which is telecast by DD-I, DD Urdu and a few other channels of Doordarshan. UNI SKR SDG NNNN
