National Democratic Alliance (NDA) convenor Sharad Yadav today said the issue of whether Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi will occupy the premier's post will be considered when it comes before the NDA. "The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is yet to decide whether Mr Modi will be a claimant for the Prime Minister's position," the Janata Dal (United) president said in response to media queries at the Bhil Ashram in Bamniya village where he offered flowers at the samadhi of freedom fighter and socialist thinker Mama Baleshwar Dayal. On the relation between the BJP and the JD(U), the former Union minister said all parties have differences of opinion but that does not create any rift. "The JD(U) is a part of the NDA and will continue to be so," Mr Yadav said. Earlier, he addressed thousands of persons -- from this state, Gujarat, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh -- who gathered in Bamniya on Mama's 14th death anniversary. "The movement initiated by Mama -- for providing rights over 'jal, jungle aur jameen' (water, forest and land) to tribal folk -- is being continued by parties that are associated with socialist ideology. Even today, fertile land -- in several states -- is in the possession of capitalists and non-tribal folk while tribal folk are forced to undertake farming elsewhere," Mr Yadav said. Referring to the condition of roads in Madhya Pradesh, he said that he has been coming to Bamniya from Ratlam by road for the past 14 years but the condition of the road has not improved.
