Dr Gulab Kothari bags Bharatiya Jnanpith Award for 2011

Renowned Thinker, Critics and Vedic Scholar Dr Gulab Kothari was today conferred with the Bharatiya Jnanpith's prestigious Moorti Devi Award for the year 2011 at a function held in New Delhi this evening. Dr Kothari who is also the Chief Editor of the Rajasthan Patrika Group of Newpapers, has bagged the 25th edition of the award for his book ' Mein Hi Radha, Mein Hi Krishna'(I am Radha and Me Krishna too). The award that carries prize money of Rs 4,lakh was presented to Dr Kothari by Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar. Uttar Pradesh Governor BL Joshi, Leader of the Opposition in the Rajasthan Assembly Vasundhara Raje, MPs Girija Vyas and Dushyant Singh, former BJP General Secretary Sanjay Joshi and renowned journalist, Punjab Kersi Chief Editor Vijay Chopra and several dignitaries were present. In her address Ms Kumar hailed Dr Kothari for his creative writings and philanthropic activities. Dr Kothari is the fourth winner of the award from Rajasthan. Earlier, celebrated Rajasthani author-scholar Kanhiya Lal Sethia, Hindi writers Yashodev Shalya and Kalyan Mal Lodha had bagged this award. Dr Kothari has so far bagged a number of awards and prizes including Government of India's National Unity Award(1993), Bhartendu Harish Chandra Award(2000), Acharya Tulsi Award (2003), Vishnu Teerth Foundation Award(2004), Nanda Foundation's Moral Ethics Award(2006), IOU Peace Award of the Year(2007), Brahmrishi Ashram Tirupati's Rastriya Gaurav Award(2007) and Maharana Mewar Foundation's Haldi Ghati Award(2011).
