Sr BJP MLC Awdhesh Narayan Singh elected Chairman

Senior member of the Bihar Legislative Council Avdhesh Narain Singh was today elected Chairman of the state legislative council. As soon as the members assembled for the day, Deputy Speaker Salim Parvez informed about the 18 proposals received in favour of Mr Singh.

He later announced the unanimous election of Mr Singh as the Chairman of the Upper House. Congratulating Mr Singh, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said the members had set a noble parliamentary precedence by electing him unanimously. He said Mr Singh is an efficient and experienced leader with deep knowledge of parliamentary affairs and hoped that he would discharge his duties responsibily.

Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi said Mr Singh had established his separate identity in the parliamentary platform.

Leader of Opposition Ghulam Gaus hoped that Mr Singh would not discriminate between the ruling and opposition members. Congress MLC Ms Jyoti, Vasudev Singh, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Vijendra Prasad Yadav and others also congratulated Mr Singh.
