BSNL to add 8 lakh new GSM lines in 4 Haryana districts

In order to meet the growing demand of telephones in Haryana, the BSNL is in the process of adding eight lakh new Global System for Mobile Communication (GSM) lines in Faridabad, Gurgaon, Sonepat and Rohtak towns. The project is likely to be completed during 2012-13, BSNL Ambala Chief General Manager G K Upadhyay, who called on Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda here today. Mr Upadhyay apprised the Chief Minister that Haryana Telecom Circle catered to a population of over 2.56 crore including Panchkula. There were more than 2.33 crore telecom connections of all operators and those of BSNL were over 35.42 lakh. The tele density of BSNL was 13.60 per cent as against the collective teledensity of 91.15 per cent of all other operaters operators. Mr Upadhyay said that BSNL had a landline network of over 5.35 lakh connections in the state which included 3.54 lakh connections in urban areas and the remaining over 1.80 lakh connections were in rural areas. Broadband services were also being provided by the Telecom Company in Ambala, Faridabad, Gurgaon, Hisar, Jind, Karnal, Rewari, Rohtak and Sonepat and more than 1.50 lakh broadband connections had so far been released. He apprised the Chief Minister that all the 11 universities in Haryana had been provided with one GBPS broadband connectivity. UNI MA SB BM2053 NNNN
