Doyen of Carnatic Music and Renowned Mridangam Exponent Vellore Ramabhadran, whose style was refreshingly original, died here this morning. He was 82. He died of natural causes at his residence in the city, family sources said. The music world condoled his death and recalled the concerts given by him, especially the one when he accompanied Mandolin U Srinivas at a show in Bangalore. "He was incomparable. His death is a great loss for Carnatic Classical Music,' they said. Ramabhadran, who enriched the world of Carnatic Music with his sensitive percussive technique in a career spanning more than seven decades, was introduced to playing mridangam at the tender age of 13 by his father and prominent laya vidwan Vellore Konnakkol Gopalachariar.
