Dr M K Mani, head of nephrology at Apollo Hospital in Chennai, was today bestowed with the prestigious Dhanvantari Award , instituted by Bombay Hospital dean and eminent cardiologist Dr B K Goyal 40 years ago. The award was presented at the hands of Union Power Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde here. Dr Mani has pioneered innovative techniques and new regimen in the management of kidney disorders. He is recipient of many awards including Padma Bhushan. Replying to the felicitation, Dr Mani stressed for having public-private partnership in tackling the kidney-related diseases whose treatment proves to be very costly.
