Kuyildasan, father of Perarivalan, one of the three convicts facing hanging on September 9 in connection with the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case, today threatened to commit suicide enmasse with his family members if his son was not released. Making an emotional appeal to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa at Jolarpettai in Vellore district after participating in a fast, Kuyildasan said if his son was not released, he along with his family members, would commit suicide before the Vellore Central Prison. We will commit suicide in front of the prison before my son is hanged , he said, adding Perarivalan was innocent and had not committed any offence. Perarivalan had been in jail for the last 20 years for no fault of his, he claimed. He said injustice was meted out to his son as he was awarded capital punishment for just purchasing toy batteries. Appealing to the Chief Minister to save his son from the gallows, Kuyildasan said only the Chief Minister can save my son . UNI GV VV RJ BM2054
