Legendary music compser and bling king, Bappi Lahri, has launched US-based artiste Biba Singhs album Biba For You (Hamara Music label) here.

Singh, a qualified doctor, demonstrates her versatility and penchant for rustic, folksy but immensely peppy Punjabi tunes on the seven tracks, which unsurprisingly has mainly Punjabi songs with two English tracks. The album is supported by two videos, already available on the internets social platforms.

''I have tried to bring in traditional Punjabi tunes while interspersing them with pop and rock melodies preferred by the youth today. I am sure that the two videos will accentuate the lyrics and the beat,'' the singer, who started performing at gurudwaras at age seven, said yesterday. A Hindustani classical music student, Singh honed her singing and performance skills by participating in a number of cultural programmes as well as singing 'shabads'. She has also released a shabad/gurbani album titled Desire for Truth-Saachi Baani, that was successfully recorded in New York City under the baton of Ustaad Taari Khan.

Biba credits her mother for nurturing her talent so much so that well known pop singers like Daler Mehndi, Jatinder Paras and Mika coaxed and encouraged her to record an album, even though she had joined medical college in the US.
