Film actesss and Trinmool Congress leader Debashree Roy today filed a lawsuit challenging an arrest warrant issued against her by a district court for forcing a man to part with his pet dogs.

Justice Kalidas Mukherjee of Calcutta High Court admitted the petition and posted it for hearing on June 3 .

Roy, member of a organisation engaged in care and protection of pet animals which are abandonded, or ill-treated by their owners, retrieved nearly half-a-dozen hybrid dogs from a man near Barasat town in North 24-Parganas about three months back.

Angry with the move, the owner of the dog moved the district sessions court challenging the seizures. The court issued a bailable arrest warrant against Roy after the code of conduct of the Election Commission came in place for the 2011-assembly elections in the state .

A TMC candidate in the polls, she kept the warrant at bay till she won the elections by defeating a Left Front candidate. She filed the petition challenging the lower court warrant.
