Struggling Mohun Bagan put up a inspiring performance to held Churchill Brothers to a goalless draw in the round XVI tie of the ONGC I-League at the Yuba Bharati Krirangan here here today.

Though the home side dominated the proceedings in both halves, weak shots and lack of penetration inside the danger area deprived them of taking full points.

Pre-match favourites Churchill Brothers, however, tested twice rival goalkeeper Shilton Paul inside ten minutes from Steven Dias and Kayne Vincent.

Bagan had also a clear chance seven minutes from water break when CB's defender Robert in an attempt to clear a cross from Snehashis Chakraborty to Subair Muritala Ali, almost headed own goal.

After the breather, Muritala Ali wasted a rosy chance for Mohun Bagan within four minutes time. Using a pass from Edeh Chidi, Muritala dodged past three defenders--Robert, R Rodrigues and Gourmangi Singh--and dribbled past goalkeeper Lalith Thapa, but his low push from left foot allowed Gourmangi to retrieve the ball from goalline clearance.

Churchill Brothers Coach Vincent Subramaniam, who called reorganised side in the second half brought their mainstay with Odafe Okolie, who tested the goalkeeper in the 52nd minute from a weak shot.

The Nigerian, who still atops the scorers list with 15 goals and scored twice against Mohun Bagan in the first leg, looked worn-out.

He also showed unhappiness at not being provided ball much from his backers.

Mohun Bagan commanded major part of the second session despite their main striker Jose Barreto had not donned colours.

Most of the attacks were centered around Edeh Chidi and Muritala Ali as the moves were made from left flank spearheaded by Snehashish Chakraborty.

Sagram Mandi in Bagan defence was adjudged man of the match for his outstanding outing of the day.

The three times champions CB were now held the 3rd position in the league table with 30 points and Mohun Bagan on the other hand are on sixth in the I-league ladder with 22 points.

With this draw Mohun Bagan have been remained undefeated in past seven games with only two wins against Indian Arrows and Viva Kerala and the rest were draws.
