Lt Guv opens cleanliness drive-Swachcha Bharat; Sunder Bharat

Swachcha Bharat; Sunder Bharat (clean India Beautiful India) Delhi Lt Governor Tejendra Khanna today launched a national cleanliness campaign organised by Mata Amritanandamayi Math titled 'Amala Bharatam' .

The campaign launched at RK Puram locality will be carried out jointly by Municipal Corporation of Delhi and volunteers of Mata Amritanandamayi Math.

Addressing the gathering, Mr Khanna lamented lack of civic sense among people. He said while Indians living in foreign countries follow the civic rules of the host country, they take it as their birthright to flout every rule once back in their home country.

Mr TKA Nair, Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, Delhi Finance Minister AK Walia, MCD Commissioner KS Mehra, Ms Jaya Chandrashekar, President of ICS/IAS Officers Association and Vice Chairman of Mata Amritanandamayi Math Swami Amritaswarupanandapuri also spoke on the occasion.

Mr Khanna administered a pledge to clean the 'Mother Earth' which was affirmed by thousands gathered over there, Thereafter the cleanliness campaign started by raising slogan 'Swachcha Bharat; Sunder Bharat' (clean India' Beautiful India) by hundreds of volunteers and students of Amrita Vidyalaya, Pushpa Vihar and various other schools.

The first brooming on this occasion was undertaken by dignitaries; Swami Amritaswarupanandapuri, Dr AK Walia, TKA Nair, Ms Jaya Chandershekhyar and MCD Commissioner KS Mehra.
