Chhattisgarh Govt announces state awards on Rajyotsav

The Chhattisgarh Government has selected 24 eminent personalities and social organisations for various state awards to be conferred on them on the valedictory function of the Rajyotsav '2010' here today.
The list of 24 awardees selected by a panel of judges for their outstanding contribution in different spheres of life in Chhattisgarh will be felicitated at the function to be graced by Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley and Chief Minister Raman Singh among others.
While Dr Sunil Kalda won the prestigious Saheed Veer Narayan Singh Award for tribal development, journalists Rajesh Ganodwale (print media - Hindi) and Hemant Panigrahi (electronic media - Hindi) shared the Chandulal Chandrakar Memorial Journalism Award, which carries Rs one lakh cash and a citation each. Madhukar Kher Memorial Journalism Award for print media (English) was given posthumously to former Resident Editor of 'Hitavada' Deendayal Purohit.
Other prominent awardees included Pandit Kamla Prasad Mishra (NRI), Mrinal Choubey (sports), Amrita Barle (women development), P D Kheda (Social Welfare), Dr Ujjwal Patni (Literature), Mandas Tondon (Folk Art and Sculpture) and Sub-Inspector Laxman Kumeti (Crime Investigation).
