Kurthalam Pontiff Siddheswarananda Bharati Swamiji inaugurated the Nitya Veda Prayanam, a unique exercise launched by TTD for propagation, preservation and promotion of Vedic studies in the country, at Vasanthotsava Mandapam located on the west Mada street here today. The event was organised by S V Institute of Higher Studies, S V Vedic University, S V Veda Pathashala (Dharmagiri in Tirumala hills) and the TTD-run Hindu Dharma Prachara Parishad (HDPP).

Addressing the occasion HDPP Secretary, Kavita Prasad said the veda chanting would last from dawn to dusk only as its recital in the night was prohibited by the Agama Shastras.

The TTD would not spare any effort to bring vedic exponents from anywhere in the country to continue the Veda Parayanams at Tirumala, he added. ''The exercise would bring into focus the need for promotion, propagation and preservation of our ancient culture, scripts and vedic systems, which were a fountainhead of knowledge and learning,'' TTD Executive Officer I Y R Krishna Rao said.

TTDs Specified Authority Chairman J Satyanarayana said the TTD was taking all necessary steps to preserue, promote and propagate learning of Veda and also conducting research. TTD run S V Vedic University Vice-Chancellor Sudarshan Sharma said the varsity will extend all necessary support including training for the ambitious Veda Parayanam programme.
