In the lines of Cricket's new appreciated trend of T20, International Basketball Federation FIBA would organise for the first time the first nine-days of the Asian Youth Championship from June 29 in Singapore. ''This championship has been taken as the preparation of Youth Olympics scheduled in 2010 in Singapore,'' International Basketball Coach Vikas Kharadkar told UNI here today.

He said the girls and boys teams of under 16 players were selected recently in Mumbai.

Mentioning the sports rules, the coach said the new version of basketball FIBA 33 was basically half court basketball in which the team which would earn 33 points first would be the winner.

Mr Kharadkar said there were three quarters of five minutes each in every match. There were four players in a team out of which only three would play.

This sport was played both indoors and outdoors and in outdoors, it was played on the sea beach. The training session for the Team India was scheduled from June 1 at T T Nagar Stadium of the state capital to provide opportunity to the team players to play with experienced sportsmen.

Practical and video sessions would also be part of the training.
