According to family sources, Mr Kairon, 82, had returned after a regular evening walk when he suddenly collapsed. His cremation was held in the family's native Kairon village today in presence of a number of political leaders, including Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal who is also a close relative, Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee chief Avtar Singh Makkad and assembly speaker Nirmal Singh Kahlon among others.
