Special sessions on separate glass for Dalits to be held

Joint Collector K Sasidhar said special awareness sessions on Prevention of Communal Riots(PCR) and Prevention of Atrocities(PoA) Act would be conducted over the existence of two glass system for Dalit community at some villages in East Godavari District.
Presiding over a committee meeting on PCR and POA, Mr Sasidhar said based on a complaint from members on the prevailing`two-glass system at Thondangi, Kirlampudi and Jaggampet mandals, steps were initiated to curb the menace. The Joint Collector said 129 cases were booked under the POA Act in 2007, out of which, 87 were false and 42 have prima-facie evidence.
He said compensation was paid to the tune of Rs 11.93 lakh in forty cases. Similarly under the PCR act, as against 48 cases booked, 22 were false. During this year, 112 cases were registered under the POA Act, out of which 35 were false, he added,
