A good example of Indian democracy has come to fore with three brothers contesting the coming Uttar Pradesh assembly poll from different parties and on different seats in the Faizabad division.
While one brother is a sitting MLA, another is a former MLA. One of the siblings is trying his luck for the first time.
Rakesh Pandey is a sitting ruling Samajwadi Party MLA from Jalalpur. He had defeated Sherbahadur Singh in 2002 assembly poll.
He is trying to repeat his feat as an SP candidate.
His brother Pawan Pandey was elected MLA in 1991 on a Shiv Sena ticket. This time, he is fighting from Akbarpur under the banner of Apna Dal, which is an alliance partner of BJP and JD(U).
The youngest brother Krishan Kumar or Kakku Pandey is fighting for first time from Isoli in Sultanpur district as a BSP candidate.
