UCAM, Rosa Ermando forge JV to make surface grinding machines

The Uday Computer Aided Manufacturing Pvt. Ltd (UCAM), manufacturer of high precision mechatronics for CNC Machine tools, has entered into a joint venture agreement to manufacture and market state-of-the-art precision surface grinding machines with an Rosa Ermando of Italy.
Addressing newspersons Indradev Babu, the Managing Director of the JV, RosaUCAM Grindtech, said here today that the new company would set up a dedicated green field facility near Bangalore in next two years.
He said that initially the machines would be produced at UCAMís existing facility before moving over to new facility which would be built at a cost of Rs 12 crore in the first phase. Under the JV buy back arrangements and direct export to South East Asia and South Africa had been made.
He said that the JV would help to access contemporary technology besides catering to the domestic market with reduced cost advantage of more than 30 per cent.
Mr Babu said that to begin with the new company would manufacture IRON series, surface grinding machines and rotor serrues, rotary surface grinding machines. One third of its production was planned to be exported. Besides this the UCAM will also market the full range of Rosa Ermandoís production made in Italy in the Indian market, he said.
He said that the machines produced by the JV would be in application in aerospace, auto component manufacturing companies and general engineering.
Mr Riccardo Rosa, President of Rosa Ermando said that India was emerged as the nerve center for machine tool industry in Asia and its technological capabilities were far superior to many other Asian countries. With the coming together of two companies in the machine tool industry the joint venture would be more capable to manufacture special category of machines which hitherto were not manufactured in the country.
