Franco to reunite with 'Freaks' pals

Hollywood actor James Franco says he plans to make a new film with two people who worked on his acclaimed 1999 TV series, Freaks and Geeks.
The Flyboys and Spider-Man star told reporters in New York he will headline Pineapple Express, a big-screen comedy written by Freaks and Geeks writer/producer Judd Apatow and co-starring Freaks actor Seth Rogen.
Apatow and Rogen also collaborated on the hit 2005 movie, The 40-Year-Old Virgin.
'Freaks and Geeks' was probably one of the most fun (work experiences I have ever had,) Franco said. The sad thing is, at the time, I didn't realize how great an environment and an experience it was. We had such great writers on that and everyone was so perfectly cast and the producers set up such a safe place for everyone to create in. It was really great.
Although a favorite of critics and the focus of a loyal fanbase, the NBC show about teen life circa 1979 was canceled after only one season. (UPI)
