Film icon Steve McQueen had once cocked a gun at his first wife Neile Adams' head after he discovered that she had cheated on him.

In her memoirs 'My Husband, My Friend', Adams has revealed that the 'Bullitt' star threatened her after he was intimated by his friends about a one-night stand she had with actor Maximilian Schell.

She insists that her partial inclination towards Schell was due to the fact that McQueen himself was a womaniser.

She also said that she could never reckon that the movie great would react the way he did to her one-night stand.

"Steve could never get over it. He'd say things like, 'Why couldn't you have done it with an electrician instead...? It just got to Steve, right to his soul," Contactmusic quoted her as saying.

Adams says that she ended her 16-year marriage to McQueen in 1972 on the advice of her therapist.

"My therapist said Steve would kill me if I stayed. I reluctantly filed for divorce and Steve was furious that he didn't do it first," she recounted. (ANI)
