A railway signal equipment kept in the toilet of an A/C coach onboard the Varanasi-Lucknow Varuna Express created a bomb scare this morning.

Police said the security personnel onboard the train found a box and a multimeter equipment in the toilet of an A/C coach. Believing it to be a time bomb, authorities at Sultanpu were alerted. The train was stopped at Sultanpur railway station and the ''suspicious looking'' material removed.

Investigations showed that a railway employee had kept the signalling equipment and a multimeter equipment meant for Ghaziabad in the toilet.

The train later left for Lucknow after a delay of 20 minutes.
