Chhattisgarhi 'Nacha' and theatre artiste Padmashri Govind Ram Nirmalkar died at about 1600 hrs today at the Dr BR Ambedkar Memorial Hospital here following prolonged illness, family sources said.
He was 79.
Nirmalkar, who was ailing for the past couple of years after a paralytic attack, was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit on Monday after he suffered severe brain haemorrhage.
The last rites would be performed tomorrow at his native Mahara village in Rajnandgaon District. Chief Minister Raman Singh expressed grief.
Nirmalkar rose to fame after he played key roles in renowned theatre personality Habib Tanvir's plays 'Charandas Chor' and 'Agra Bazaar'. Last year, he was conferred the Sangeet Natak Academi Award by President Pranab Mukherjee. UNI SS AC SY AS2210 NNNN
