Bharatiya Rashtra Samiti (BRS) working president K T Rama Rao on Friday condemned the arrest of 'Pushpa 2: The Rule' actor Allu Arjun in connection with a stampede at Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad, calling it the "pinnacle of insecurity" of the Telangana government.
Sympathising with the victims--a 35-year-old woman who lost her life and her son who was injured in the December 4 stampede--KTR said that Allu Arjun "isn't directly responsible" for the incident. "The arrest of National Award-winning star Allu Arjun is the pinnacle of the rulers' insecurity! I fully sympathise with the victims of the stampede, but who truly failed? Treating @alluarjunGaru as a common criminal is uncalled for, especially for something he is not directly responsible for," KTR wrote on the social media platform X. "There is always room for respect and dignified conduct. I strongly condemn the government's high-handed behaviour. By the same perverse logic, Revanth Reddy should be arrested for causing the deaths of two innocent people who died in Hyderabad due to the fear psychosis caused by Hydra," KTR added. https://x.com/KTRBRS/status/1867480142085578958 Additionally, BJP leader T Raja Singh also condemned the actor's arrest and questioned the security arrangements made by the police at Sandhya Theatre, where the stampede occurred. "The Telangana Police claim that Allu Arjun did not inform them of his arrival at Sandhya Theatre. As a result, a massive crowd gathered in front of the theatre, and in that stampede, a woman died. An FIR was subsequently lodged against the owner of Sandhya Theatre as well as the actors. The Sandhya Theatre owner has issued a letter, stating that they had informed the Hyderabad CP that Allu Arjun, other actors, and the director were arriving. After this intimation, if the police failed to provide security arrangements, whose fault is it? I would like to ask Revanth Reddy if it is the actors' fault?" Singh said. The stampede at Sandhya Theatre, which led to the death of one woman and injuries to her son, prompted a police investigation culminating in the arrest of three individuals and now the arrest of actor Allu Arjun. L. Ramesh Kumar, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Chikkadpally, confirmed the actor's arrest. "Yes, he (Actor Allu Arjun) has been arrested," he said. In addition to Allu Arjun, the police apprehended three others connected to the incident--M. Sandeep, one of the owners of Sandhya Theatre, senior manager M. Nagaraju, and Gandhakam Vijay Chander, who oversaw the theatre's lower balcony--arresting them for their alleged roles in the stampede. The police filed a case at Chikkadpally police station, citing dangerous crowd management practices that contributed to the tragedy. (ANI)
