Following the swearing-in ceremony of the Maharashtra government, Congress MP Pramod Tiwari on Thursday criticised the Mahayuti alliance, highlighting the 11-12 days it took to decide the Chief Minister, suggesting it reflected poorly on the stability of the new government.
Speaking to ANI, Tiwari remarked, "On November 23, the election results were declared. They secured a huge majority, yet it took 11-12 days to decide on the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister. One can only imagine how a government that begins like this will end. I think today's Deputy CM could become the CM tomorrow; only God knows what will happen next." Meanwhile, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Devendra Fadnavis was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra in a ceremony held at Mumbai's Azad Maidan on Thursday. Governor CP Radhakrishnan administered the oath to Fadnavis. Shiv Sena Chief Eknath Shinde and Nationalist Congress Party Chief Ajit Pawar also took their oaths as Deputy Chief Ministers. The event was attended by prominent leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. Chief Ministers from several states, such as Yogi Adityanath (Uttar Pradesh), Nitish Kumar (Bihar), Vishnu Deo Sai (Chhattisgarh), Pramod Sawant (Goa), Bhupendra Patel (Gujarat), and Pushkar Singh Dhami (Uttarakhand), were also present. After the ceremony, Shiv Sena leader Shaina NC said, "Devendra Fadnavis is a hardworking leader. I congratulate Eknath Shinde ji for prioritising the wishes and expectations of Maharashtra above his own." The Maharashtra Assembly Election 2024 saw the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance achieve a decisive victory, winning 235 seats in total. The BJP emerged as the single largest party with 132 seats, while Shiv Sena and the Nationalist Congress Party secured 57 and 41 seats, respectively. In contrast, the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance faced a significant defeat. Congress managed to win just 16 seats, Shiv Sena (UBT) secured 20 seats, and the NCP (Sharad Pawar faction) garnered only 10 seats. (ANI)
