Bharatiya Janata Party MP Kangana Ranaut on Friday expressed concern over the condition of Hindu priests in Bangladesh amid the row over the arrest of Hindu monk Chinmoy Krishna Das.

Kangana Ranaut, who is an MP from Mandi in Himachal Pradesh, said there is "no movement" on social media to raise awareness about the alleged atrocities against the Hindus in Bangladesh.

"The condition of Sadhus and saints in Bangladesh is a matter of great concern for us. It is a matter of worry that no protests are taking place here against these atrocities...There is no movement on social media with all eyes on Bangladesh. These things are also worrying," Kangana Ranaut told reporters here on Friday.

Blaming the interim Bangladesh government of Muhammad Yunus for the "unrest" in the country, Ranaut affirmed that they are standing in support of the Hindu community there.

"Since he (Muhammad Yunus) came to power in Bangladesh, there has been total unrest in the country. We are standing in support of Hindus in Bangladesh. May God protect them," she said.

Hindu monk Chinmoy Krishna Das has been charged with sedition for allegedly hoisting a saffron flag above Bangladesh's national flag in Chittagong on October 25.

Even though ISKCON's Bangladesh unit has rejected allegations linking the religious organisation to the killing of a lawyer in Chattogram, protests continue in the country. The situation has been tense after a lawyer was killed during clashes between police and alleged followers of Das in the Chattogram Court Building area on November 27.

ISKCON had earlier expressed solidarity with Chinmoy Krishna Das.

In a post on X, ISKCON, Inc. stated, "ISKCON, Inc. stands with Chinmoy Krishna Das. Our prayers to Lord Krishna for the protection of all these devotees."

Chinmoy Krishna Das is currently lodged in a Bangladesh jail after a Chittagong court denied him bail on Tuesday. (ANI)
