Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Friday, elaborated on the developmental vision for the erstwhile state, and asserted that terrorism would be "crushed" and "eliminated" from the Union Territory.
LG Manoj Sinha noted the progress made in Jammu and Kashmir in the last four years and expressed optimism that the Union Territory would be among the developed states across the country. "What kind of transformation do we want to see in Jammu & Kashmir in the decade to come? We have been progressing for the last 4-5 years. The day is not far when Jammu & Kashmir would be one of the developed states...Let's resolve to dedicate ourselves to building such a Jammu and Kashmir together," LG Sinha said while speaking at an event in Reasi. "Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given clear instructions that the holistic development of Jammu and Kashmir is his national priority. But this development is possible only when society is assured of security," he added. LG Sinha also slammed Pakistan over its continuous attempts to disturb peace and harmony in J-K. "Attempts are being made to impact our security. Our neighbour is making constant attempts to affect harmony, but I know the brave jawans of the armed forces, Police and Central Reserve Police Force. They have been given full freedom; terrorism will be crushed and eliminated," he said. Earlier in the day, LG, Manoj Sinha terminated two government employees having 'terror links' from the service in the interest of the security of the state, top sources said. The two employees have been identified as Ab Rehman Naika and Zahir Abbas. According to top sources in the law enforcement agencies in the Union Territory, the LG invoked 311(2)(c) of the Constitution after painstaking investigation by law enforcement and intelligence agencies clearly established their terror links.
