Agartala (Tripura) | November 23, 2024 11:12:12 PM IST
Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Saturday lauded the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance's landslide victory in the Maharashtra Assembly elections, attributing the triumph to the people's preference for development over the "false promises" of opposition parties.

Celebrating the victory outside the state BJP office in Agartala, Saha said, "Due to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, we secured victories in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Chhattisgarh, followed by Haryana. Many people claimed it would be impossible for us to win, but the way we are working for development under PM Modi's leadership has proven them wrong."

Highlighting the significance of the victory, Saha said, "Based on our development work, people have voted for BJP and PM Modi. Today, we won in Maharashtra. This time too, there were many comments, including about the anti-incumbency factor, but people have rejected all such claims and chosen development by voting for the NDA."

Saha credited PM Modi for the success, saying, "I want to congratulate and thank PM Modi and the people of Maharashtra on behalf of Tripura BJP and the people of this state. Whenever we win, the opposition raises baseless allegations about security and EVMs. People have seen through their fake promises."

He also took a dig at the opposition in Tripura, saying, "The CPI(M) is now hard to find in Tripura. In a democracy, victory and loss are natural. While we are trailing in Jharkhand, we remain a strong opposition with good seat numbers and will continue to work hard. PM Modi has always been supportive to our karyakartas (workers)."

In Maharashtra, BJP has won or is ahead in 132 seats, Shiv Sena led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has won or is ahead in 57 seats and NCP led by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar is poised to win 41 seats. The state has 288 assembly seats.

The constituents of Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) suffered a rude jolt with Shiv Sena (UBT) led by Uddhav Thackeray poised to win 20 seats, Congress 16, and NCP (SP) led by Sharad Pawar only 10 seats. (ANI)
