Etawah district administration has suspended the Mahewa block panchayat secretary and issued a notice to the village pradhan after an inspection of a cowshed in the village block revealed improper disposal of cow carcasses, officials said on Friday.

Etawah District Magistrate Avneesh Rai said, "The inspection was conducted at the cowshed following complaints received on social media and from residents. It was found that the cow carcasses were not disposed of properly, causing remains to be washed away by the rain and creating issues for locals."

Following the complaints, a team of officials visited the site and found negligence in disposal and care of the carcasses.

"As a result, the panchayat secretary has been suspended, and a show cause notice has been issued to the village pradhan. The veterinary officer has also been directed to ensure weekly visits and inspections," Rai said.

"All animals have since been relocated to other cowsheds, and authorities have warned that any further negligence would result in strict action," he added.

During the investigation, it was noted that 126 cows were registered, with 120 present at the site. However, the carcasses of four cows had not been disposed of properly.

Further details are awaited. (ANI)
