Extending greetings on World Tourism Day, Tripura chief minister Manik Saha said Friday that Tripura is a befitting place to enjoy the serene beauty of nature.

In a post on X, he wrote, "Greeting to all on World Tourism Day! Tripura is a destination that promises a captivating journey through time, culture, and nature. From the spiritual serenity of the Mata Tripurasundari Temple to the mysterious rock carvings of Unakoti, from the royal grandeur of Neermahal to majestic Chabimura and Narkelkunja, Tripura offers an array of experiences that leave a lasting impression on the visitors. Explore the enchanting beauty of Tripura."

"The tourism department of the state government is making extensive preparation to properly observe the world tourism day through a number of programmes. A lot of programmes will be carried out on the appointed date to popularize the day and make people aware of its importance," he added.

World Tourism Day is celebrated every year on September 27. The day marks the anniversary of the adoption of the Statutes of the Organization in 1970, paving the way for the establishment of UN Tourism later.

This year's theme for World Tourism Day 2024 is "Tourism and Peace." (ANI)
