Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister and Bengaluru Development Minister DK Shivakumar on Thursday said that the new Knowledge, Wellbeing, and Innovation (KWIN) city would not just be a concrete jungle but a sustainable city that will bring positive changes in the lives of people.

Speaking at the inauguration of KWIN city at the Banquet Hall in Vidhana Soudha, he said, "Bengaluru has been known as an intellectual city for a long time. Nehru has contributed a lot for the development of Bengaluru. We will have to make it even stronger."

"Let there be not even an iota of doubt about the ability of Karnataka. As a Bengaluru Development Minister, I am committed to the development of this city. Our priority is to provide all amenities to the people and industries," he said.

He further said that the project will take care of the drinking water needs of the city for the next 10 years.

"Two days ago, we inaugurated Karnataka's first natural gas power generation station at Yelahanka. Siddaramaiah's government is taking up projects in the city keeping in mind the future of the city. The Cauvery 5th Stage would be ready in a few days. This project will take care of the drinking water needs of the city for the next 10 years," he explained.

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister asserted that Bengaluru and Karnataka have good talent and companies.

"During our previous visit to Delhi, CM Siddaramaiah and I appealed to the Prime Minister to grant a GIFT city for Karnataka. He rejected our request, stating there can be only one GIFT city in the country. We will have to take the KWIN city to that level and showcase. Let's take the reputation of Karnataka to newer heights. Bengaluru and Karnataka have good talent and companies. Let's build a strong future for the city and make it the prime driver of India's growth," he said.

He further emphasised that Karnataka is the No. 1 state in the export of many products, including software.

"The KWIN city is an attempt of the Government of Karnataka to tell the industry that it is with them. Let's make this project a reality," he added.

KWIN City is strategically located between Dabaspet and Doddaballapur, just a 45-minute drive from Bengaluru Airport, 50 km from the city centre, and 5 km from the Bengaluru-Pune Greenfield Expressway.

The city boasts meticulously planned intra and inter-transport systems, reducing congestion and enhancing convenience, with seamless connectivity through the Bangalore-Hubli-Mumbai Express rail route and proximity to National Highways 44 and 648. (ANI)
