Meghalaya's Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) on Friday demanded for a CBI or judicial probe into the murderous attack on Right to Information Agnes Kharshiing and her two aides in coal belt area under East Jaintia Hills.

"The probe is to find out if there is a conspiracy between Coal Mafia and authorities (police or politicians) to instigate and provoke the mob," BJYM President, Egenstar Kurkalang said.

Kurkalang also asked the government to provide free-medical treatment to Kharshiing and Sangma.

Kharshiing, who is also the President of Civil Society Women's Organisation, along with her aides Amita Sangma and E Kurbah were brutally attacks after they had gone to the Lad Rymbai police station to lodge a complaint about the illegal transportation of coal in violation of the National Green Tribunal (NGT) order.

The NGT had imposed an interim ban on the extraction and transportation of the coal since 2014.

The BJYM also strongly demanded from the state government to immediately solve the issue of ban on coal mining by the NGT.

"All these problem have arisen from the issue of ban on coal mining and the governmwent should speed up the Mining Policy in the best interest of the public and the society of Meghalaya, Kurkalang said.

While condemning the attack on the duo, the BJYM urged the state government to arrest all those involved in the attack even as it said that the law does not allow any person to harm anyone even if there is any differences.

Kurkalang also said that the attacked might have occured due to the limited presence of police in that area.
