Joint Secretary Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Anju Nigam on Friday reviewed the functioning of Doordarshan and All India Radio at a meeting convened at Media Complex here.

Various issues discussed in the meeting included increase the duration of the news bulletins on Doordarshan and AIR, telecast of one more news bulletin between 7:00 pm and 10:30 pm, organizing interactive programmes with the Heads of the Department from J&K and live coverage of sporting events on DD Kashir.

The other issues discussed at the meeting included strengthening of Doordarshan and AIR Kendras in J&K by way of infrastructure and human resource, for which it was suggested that a special recruitment drive should be held for filling up the vacant posts in these organizations to engage the professionally qualified local Mass Communication and Journalism pass-outs.

The meeting also discussed the issues like telecast of human-interest stories, telecast of Khelo-India on DD Kashir and live telecast of I-League football matches by Doordarshan.

The meeting also called for convening the Inter-media Coordination Committee meeting to sort-out the issues.
