Veteran Marathi actress Lalan Sarang, known for her theatre plays, passed away at the age of 79 on Friday.
"The actress breathed her last in Pune, after keeping unwell for many days," said her son Rakesh.
He further said "My mother died due to old age and was in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital for a week, before she breathed her last breathe. We will bring her at our Pune residence in Siddharth Nagar on Saturday and leave immediately for Mumbai, where according to her wish, her final rites will be performed at Shivaji Park, alongside my father Kamlakar Sarang, who was also cremated there."Known for her impeccable acting in plays like Kamala, Sakharam Binder, Geedhade and RathChakra, apart from movies like Samna, her portrayal of characters were not only entertaining, but also backed by important social messages.
Sarang was also a culinary expert. She owned a restaurant called 'Masemari - The fishing' on Tilak Road.
