Wildlife officials today rescued a wild bear trapped by the poachers in a reserve forest near Kothagocchi village and later released the wild animal in the deep forest of Kuldiha sanctuary.
The bear was found roaring after getting entangled in a trap laid by the suspected poachers. The local residents informed the forest officials and the wildlife officials of Nilgiri division with the help of expert tranquilizers rescued the animal from the trap.
The tranquilization was carried out under the supervision of Dr Piyush Soren and Dr Hamid and the wild bear was rescued from the trap.
Nilgiri Range officer Sukumar Das said the female sub adult bear was let into deep forest area near Swarnachuda hill in a normal state and she walked away in normal condition .
He said an inquiry is underway to identify the poachers who laid the trap adding that appropriate action would be taken against them.
On October 26 last also a bear got trapped in Naikulia village under Jamudiha GP of Nilgiri was rescued by the forest department and later released into the Kuldhia sanctuary .
Since , these incidences are occurring repeatedly in Nilgiri , they poses worry for the environment lovers .
Nilgiri is known as bear dominated patch of the district .Bears and other wild animals at times stray into human habitation inadvertently or in search of foods.
