Air India diverts flight to Mumbai after freak accident; No casualties

The Air India flight had to be diverted to Mumbai after the aircraft wheels hit the airport's perimeter wall while taking off on Friday morning, official said. The flight IX-611, from Tiruchirappalli to Dubai with 130 passengers and six crew, which took off at around 0120 hrs was then diverted to Mumbai where it made a safe emergency landing around 0540 hrs. The commander of the aircraft, Capt. D. Ganesh Babu was informed of the incident and he reported that the aircraft system were operating normally but the flight was diverted to Mumbai as a precautionary measure, said an AI official.

Later, an alternative flight was arranged and flew to Dubai. UNI AAA NV SHK1612
