Malayalam Mission, which is the Kerala government's endeavour to teach Non-Resident Keralites their mother tongue, launched a campaign "Bhoomi Malayalam" to unite the Malayalee diaspora across the globe. Malayalam Mission, in accordance with their mission statement of reaching out to each and every Malayalee, has designed the campaign centered on this theme of unity through language. The campaign has, as its focal point, a worldwide Pledge of Unity that will see participation of millions of Malayalees. The pledge is written by poet and NRI, K. Satchidanandan. The campaign aims at integrating the malayalee community and channeling this unity to the sustainable development of the state.
"The Malayalee community across the world has seen the cultural unity and sense of oneness that is based on a common mother-tongue, at the time of the recent floods.", Kerala Cultural Affairs Minister AK Balan said here on Thursday.
Seminars, language exhibitions, cultural programmes and competitions will be held online and offline as part of the campaign. Departments of Education and Higher Education, Kerala Tourism, NORKA, Loka Kerala Sabha, Pravasi Welfare Board, Bharat Bhavan and other organizations will associate with the Deptartment of Cultural Affairs in the Bhoomi Malayalam Campaign.
