49 pc growth in India's social responsibility graph: Report

There has been a 49 per cent growth in the country's social responsibility graph, the India CSR Outlook Report 2018 shows.

The Report, released at the 5th edition of India CSR Summit here in the presence of Union Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Anant Kumar Hegde and which provides an in-depth analysis of CSR spends of big 359 companies in FY 2017-18 , shows that Corporate India's social responsibility graph for India has witnessed a 49 per cent jump.

There is an increase in the prescribed CSR from 6 per cent to 8 per cent in the actual CSR spend from FY 16-17 and the number of projects have also increased by 25 per cent from the previous year . The report says that Maharastra, Karnatka and Gujrat together received over 25 per cent of India's total CSR fund. Delivering the keynote address at the event, Union Minister of State for Human Resources Development Satyapal Singh said practical education is the key to success in terms of facing challenges in the society.

'' I think practical education is the key to success in terms of facing challenges in our society. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has a vision to make India poverty, corruption & terrorism free till 2022,'' he said.

Speaking at the event, the Union Minister stressed on the need of skill development.

''We need to be more honest, accountable as skill development is the need of the hour in every sector today,'' he said.

The event saw more than 24 thematic discussions covering major CSR areas in education, healthcare, skill development, water, agriculture, rural development and technology.
