Haryana Animal Husbandry and Dairying Minister O P Dhankar today said that in a major relief to the milk producers, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has accorded approval to reduce the cess amount on milk from 10 paisa per litre to 5 paise per litre now.

Mr Dhankar said that the decision was taken in view of the long pending demand of the milk producers. These reduced rates would be effective from February 4, 2016. All those who have deposited the cess at the rate of 10 paisa per litre, their cess amount would be calculated as per the decreased amount (at the rate of 5 paisa per litre) and the difference would be adjusted against future accruals.

He said that this has been approved as per the provisions under Haryana Murrah Buffalo and other Milch Animal Breed (Preservation and Development of Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development Sector) Act, 2001. The department has also issued the notification accordingly.
