Giving details, a spokesman said under the ongoing pilot project, fortified chakki atta was being supplied in Barara and Naraingarh blocks of Ambala district. Now, it would be extended to all PDS shops in Ambala and Karnal, including Anganwadis of these districts.

In addition, HAFED would ensure fortification of mustard oil (Vitamin A and D) and supply it through PDS in a phased manner at the rate of 2 litres per month per family to the beneficiaries of Below Poverty Line (BPL) and Antyodya Anna Yojana (AAY). HAFED would also ensure distribution of fortified cottonseed and soyabean oil to Anganwaris in all districts by September 1.
