In view of water management, Atal Bhujal Yojana of the Central Government will be implemented in seven states, including Haryana.
Giving this information on Thursday, Akhil Kumar, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation, said that the Bhujal Yojana is expected to be implemented in the next two months to prevent over exploitation of ground water resources. Besides, Haryana the scheme is being implemented in Gujarat, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh.
Under the scheme, he said, conservation of water bodies would be done and the concerned organisations and institutions would be strengthened. Funds would be provided to conserve the water bodies in villages through village panchayats. He said that this Rs 6,000 crore-scheme is being supported by World Bank and would be implemented over a period of five years from 2018-19 to 2022-23.
