Jammu and Kashmir Police said it persuaded a youth, who had left home to join militant ranks in central Kashmir district of Budgam, to return to his family.

Meanwhile, greeting people on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, Director General of Police (DGP) Dr S P Vaid appealed to parents of the youth to recall him and celebrate the festival together.

A police spokesperson said that it was learnt and reported that a boy from Budgam in the central Kashmir, had gone missing to join militant ranks. "The boy was upset due to some personal issues and went missing to join militant ranks," he said.

But, he said with the timely intervention of police, support of his family and constant follow up, the youth was persuaded to return. "Police has ensured all help to the individual so that he can lead a normal life again," he added.
